Fiona has worked as a senior pharmacist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for most of her career. Since qualifying as an independent prescriber (IP) 6 years ago she has become committed to developing the pharmacist prescriber role to optimise patients’ medication and promote flow through the hospital. Her current role, leading the Embedded Prescribing Pharmacist initiative, allows her to practice her specialist clinical skills in Gastroenterology as well as develop this exciting service. She sees this type of role as the future for all ward-based pharmacist IPs, getting medicines “Right First Time”.
